The Millbrook Farmer’s Market on the Village Green held their last Saturday market in Millbrook for this season. A little rain did not deter the people coming to enjoy some locally grown produced, as well as music played by Clemency. Their music offered Boomer-Acoustic style, and it was a mixture of songs. Also, The River of Life Church Chill Out Ice Cream truck was on site for delicious ice cream.
Chuck Burns, Market Manager for the City of Millbrook, was on site Saturday and enjoyed seeing the people come through. “I had many people come up to me, thinking today is the last day for the farmer’s market. I want to assure everyone that even though this is the last Saturday market, we are having the farmer’s market every Tuesday here in Millbrook until August 16th. I go out to the farms that sell the produce at the market, and I inspect to ensure that these are locally grown produce,” said Burns.
This season was the first year the city offered a Saturday market, and it was extremely popular. In the past the city had not held a Saturday market, so as not to compete with other markets, or stretch local farmers too thin. After speaking with many organizations and growers who said it could be possible, this was the first year.
If you missed the Saturday market, make plans to come every Tuesday from 7 a.m.- 12 p.m. at the Village Green in Millbrook and check out delicious produce, soaps, and delicious desserts.
The next Farmer’s Market will be held on Tuesday, July 26th from 7 a.m to 12 p.m. at the Village Green in Millbrook. For more information, please be sure to check out the City of Millbrook Facebook page at: www.Facebook.com/CityofMillbrookAlabama.com.
