BRIDGES OF FAITH OF BILLINGSLEY, ALABAMA
I am receiving numerous calls about the current Ukrainian crisis. There is so very much to say about how these developments impact our world. On a natural level, we are already seeing prices go up . . . and no one likes that. On another level, we see a stronger country bullying another independent country, seemingly determined to overrule their right to self-govern, to determine their own destiny. The cost in human suffering can be horrific and end in domination.
I grieve these developments. I’ve spent great chunks of my life – since 1997 – in Ukraine. I have fallen in love with the culture and the people of Ukraine. I am bracing myself to see bloodshed, the loss of homes and lifetime accomplishments. I am bracing for entirely unjustified suffering and death.
I’m also facing another reality. This past Christmas, Bridges of Faith brought nine beautiful orphans to the US. Each one was hosted by wonderful families, demonstrating the love of God in both Word and Deed. Seven of those children – and possibly eight of those precious kids – have families pursuing them with adoption. Those families want to give them forever homes and families.
We are working to bring those kids to the US. Of course, I can’t share the details at this time, but we are working behind the scenes on two continents to get these kids into their homes, This passion drives us at Bridges of Faith.
You may be asking what you can do to help. First, I hope that you will pray. Right now, we have no greater need than for Christians to lift up the children and us before the Father. Thank you so very much for asking and thank you so much for praying.
We also need material resources. We have just sent a group of orphans back to Ukraine and this is February, typically the worst month of the year for many organizations. WE need to develop a war chest to fund this initiative. I deeply appreciate your gift . . . of any size!
