Cloverdale Jewelers has been a staple of the Millbrook community since 2015, providing antique, vintage, and new bridal wear to people in the tri-county area.
Rick Bailes, owner, has worked in the jewelry business for 40 years – dedicating his life to providing quality products and excellent service to everyone who walks through the front door. His intrigue for the profession started at an early age, a time that would prove crucial in shaping his career.
“I had an older friend that collected gems and other types of jewelry and that really sparked my interest. Soon after, I started doing the same thing, and eventually what was once a hobby of mine turned into a career,” Bailes said.
For years, Bailes worked as a mechanical engineer in factories across Alabama, but ultimately decided that his passion was with the gems that fascinated him as a child.
“I’ve been collecting my own jewelry, buying and selling, for a number of years now. It’s paid off in the long run because now our store has some of the most diverse collections of eclectic jewelry in the tri-county area,” Bailes explained.
Bailes went on to say that the store is very strong in custom jewelry, and also provides in-house watch and jewelry repair.
“Most places are going to send your jewelry somewhere else to repaired. We do everything here in-house, which helps to provide that personal touch,” Bailes said.
That personal touch has helped Bailes become a well-established business owner in the Millbrook community.
“We’ve had nothing but great reception from the community since we’ve been here. There’s very, very good people from Millbrook, Prattville, Selma, and other areas in the surrounding counties that never bought from us when we were in Montgomery. The location has been wonderful,” Bailes said.
After the store moved from Montgomery to Millbrook, it quickly became involved with the Millbrook Chamber of Commerce. The relationship that the two have made has been essential to their success, Bailes said.
“Our chamber of commerce is crucial to the community because they help us attract other businesses to the area. Without them, we would have no one to help support future growth,”
Bailes explained.
“More businesses are always welcome to come to Millbrook, and the chamber provides necessary networking opportunities to ensure that that happens.”
